Green Statement 2021

We do not wait, we act

Environmental degradation has a measurable adverse impact on our lives. If we do nothing about it now, the increasingly more serious climate crisis will have to be faced by future generations. Being a large financial institution we have a material impact on economic activities in Poland and, by supporting our clients in their decision-making, on quality of their lives. Thus it is our responsibility to actively counteract the climate change. At ING we promote sustainable development solutions. We create and offer products that support go-green activities and responsibly manage environmental risk.

ESG Risk Management Policy

The Bank treats ESG risk with the same attention as other financial and non-financial risks. As a result, the Bank has developed an ESG risk management policy. The purpose of the policy is to define how the Bank manages ESG risk as part of its activities to maintain it at an acceptable level. The policy describes the process of identifying, assessing, monitoring and reporting ESG risks. This risk materialises through the traditional risks associated with banking activities. The policy describes mechanisms for managing ESG risk from the perspective of credit risk, market risk, liquidity- and funding risk, and operational risk. The policy also raises awareness of that risk, while strengthening the ESG risk culture at ING Bank Śląski.

The ESG Risk Management Policy is complemented by the Environmental-, Social- and Corporate Governance Risk Manual. In the ESG Manual, the Bank has identified sectors where there is a high risk of human rights violations and/or a risk of negative environmental impacts (i.e. restricted activities). The Manual applies to clients to whom we offer credit- and non-credit products. We do not enter into relationships with clients whose core business falls within the restricted activities.

GHG emission reduction plan

Bank has developed a document "Roadmap for reducing GHG emissions", which sets out ambitions regarding emission reduction in its own economy and credit portfolio. ING BSK presents decarbonization initiatives and progress made so far on the path to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It also specifies a plan to support clients in their sustainable transformation.
